Norwich and it's Surrounding Areas

Norwich is throbbing with nightlife, buzzing with shoppers, packed with heritage, and alive with street entertainers, arts and music. The atmosphere here is contagious and you'll find there's so much to see and so many things to do. Norwich has been voted one of the top ten shopping destinations in Britain! It was once said that Norwich could once boast a pub for every day of the year and a church for every week. While it is no longer the case, there are still over 30 medieval churches within the old city walls alone and, as for pubs, there may not be 365 any more, but there are certainly enough to keep you entertained and to ensure you do not go thirsty! With Norwich being only a short train ride away from London means we are right on the door step of our Capital. Norfolk is a great place to live at any time of year, with miles of unspoilt coastline you can breathe in the fresh sea air of the tranquil Norfolk coast and listen to the cries of the gulls and the waves crashing against the shore. You'll find huge expanses of pale sandy beaches backed by high grassy sand dunes and internationally important nature reserves and amazing wildlife. There are hundreds of picturesque villages including Burnham Market, which is the epitome of sophistication with stylish shops, award-winning restaurants and enticing galleries. The historic market towns and fantastic seaside resorts including the bright lights of Great Yarmouth are right on your door step. The Broads is Britain's magical waterland, a uniquely beautiful environment shaped by people working hand in hand with nature over thousands of years.

Entertainment & Arts

Norwich houses two great shopping centres. Between them they offer over 150 shops plus restaurants and cafes. High street names and large department stores are well represented and the medieval alleys and winding back streets in the heart of the city from the Norwich Lanes, Upper st. Giles, St. Benedicts, Elm Hill, London Street and Timberhill. In all these locations you will find independent small businesses selling something extra special and unique like designer clothes, books and antiques. Norwich boasts a fantastic library, The Forum was a Millenium Commision Lottery Project and has become a landmark building within the centre of Norwich. It was built to house a new state of the art library, replacing the old Norwich central library which burnt down in 1994.

There are a plethora of theatre groups and lots of interesting venues in the Norwich area. The Norwich Theatre Royal hosts major companies from West End productions and offers the very best from the world of drama, dance, opera, musical theatre, comedy, music and shows for the young and young at heart including the annual pantomime. The Norwich Playhouse is home to young, contemporary drama and dance, great jazz and the best in stand up comedy. The Maddermarket Theatre, The Arts Centre and the Puppet Theatre are also at the centre of Norwich Arts and entertainment. The Comedy Club rolls into the Forum once a month for a night of comedy and laughs whilst the Cinema City shows many genres of film, often with accompanying talks and discussions. World-class opera and other musical events are also shown live on their big screen.

Eating out in Norwich and it's countryside is all about the pleasure of enjoying wonderful Norfolk food, the skills of top local chefs and receiving a warm welcome from passionate proprietors. Restaurants in Norwich offer the sophistication of award winning eateries fr om trendy bistros to homely gastro pubs to hotel restaurants and themed meals. Norwich and it's countryside has just about every variety of restaurant you can think of. Plus quite a few have some pretty great awards under their belts!

Norwich is surrounded by superb Norfolk countryside, but there are also over 150 green spaces in the city itself, including 23 parks, 59 natural areas and nature reserves and 10 kilometres of riverside walks. Within all of these spaces you will find secret gardens, heritage gardens, parks, activity centres and places to relax and unwind.
